COVID-19

CFC Season (Cold, Flu, and Covid)

Tis the season to be Jollie! Occasionally though, the more we shelter in place and stay inside, the more we tend to share bugs and fall ill.  In the age of the mask, it is important to remember that we need to wash our hands as our skin can be a carrier for illnesses that can take the wind out of our sails.  Good hygiene and self-care can not only help minimize the length of time we are out, but they can also actually prevent getting sick in the first place!  For your own sake as well as your loved ones, don’t forget to use a little soap and water and be conscious of things like door knobs and areas where a lot of traffic occurs.

Some patients have asked the question out of concern about what we are doing in our office not only to battle covid but to prevent the risk of spreading contagions from patients to others.  Our first line of defense is actually the conversation we have with the patient!  With some simple, non-invasive questions, we pre-screen patients in order to catch the folks who may have been exposed before they arrive at the office.

We also believe that since we do see some frail patients whose immune systems are not as robust as others, that using hand sanitizer and a mask will help limit any symptom-free transmissions as much as is possible.  After that, it turns to limit the aerosol created by our instruments.  On the dental side of the office, we have invested in a comfortable intra-oral system that not only reduces the aerosols of the handpiece, it also provides a comfortable rest for the jaw and keeps the materials that come out of the tooth or what we restore the tooth with from going down the patient’s throat.  Because it is lighted, it actually increases our speed of service as well!

Outside of the mouth, we use air filtration units that recycle the air in our operators every 30 seconds, and the entire air of the office in just over 10 minutes.  In addition to these safeguards, we go an extra mile or two by treating the air and surfaces of the office with ozone, UV light, and hydrochloric acid all of which destroys bacteria and viruses on contact.  Your health and safety are important to us and we want you to not only feel safe getting the work you need to be done, but we also want you to actually BE safe.

Our new office protocols:

  • Please wear a mask to your appointment, if you do not have a mask, we will provide one for you
  • When you arrive at the office, please stay in your car and call 402 3789403 and we will let you know when your treatment room is ready for you.
  • We have a hands-free hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use prior to entering the office
  • A staff member will greet you and review your health history
  • Our trained staff member will then take your take our vitals and temperature
  • Please note that all appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients.
  • We ask that you plan on not having family members come to the office with you to honor the social distancing guidelines so that we can reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.

We have invested in new PPE protocols and equipment to keep everyone safe

  • Sneeze guards on both counters of the front office.
  • Sanitizing all operatories with Enerzen Commercial Ozone Generator Industrial O3 Air Purifier
  • Staff will be wearing new PPE gowns and face shields.
  • UV lights to disinfect each operatory every night
  • IQ HEPA Air Filtration removes aerosols in the dental operatory.
  • An updated building HVAC system with HEPA filtering capabilities
  • Use of rubber dams to reduce oral aerosols

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. To make an appointment, please call our office
